The 7 Biggest Mistakes Trustees Often Make
This seminar is entertaining and informative. It is our main educational seminar. In the first half of the seminar we explore a real case to determine where the clients, trustees and successor trustees went wrong and what those mistakes cost. Unfortunately, only some of the costs in these cases are measurable in financial terms. The real costs are emotional and involve the damage to family relationships. Again, this is damage that is preventable.
In the second half of the seminar we examine each of the mistakes that was made and identify what could have been done to avoid them. The seminar is wrapped up by another look at a sample case that demonstrates the difference that proper planning can make in the lives of clients and their families for two or three generations and beyond.
Advanced Trustee Workshops
These trustee training workshops were created as a follow up to our main presentation, "The 7 Biggest Mistakes Trustees Often Make." Although “The 7 Biggest Mistakes” seminar provides a great overview of trustee duties and identifies potential mistakes and liabilities, time constraints don’t allow us to go into detail on specific strategies, estate planning techniques and investment products. Each of the trustee training workshops was developed based upon topics we feel specifically address our seminar attendees’ most popular concerns. Each session features a speaker critically chosen by ATS who is highly trained and an expert within their field. Many of them have published books on their related topic and speak throughout the country on their area of expertise.
Pitfalls of B Trust Planning
This seminar is designed for those couples who have created an A-B Living Trust and recent widows and widowers who had an A-B Trust. The B portion of an A-B Living Trust is usually set up and funded within nine months of the death of the first spouse. It is one of the most powerful instruments in estate planning. If funded and managed properly it can provide huge benefits to the surviving spouse and/or to the ultimate beneficiaries. Mismanagement of the B Trust can make it more of a liability for the surviving spouse and heirs. This seminar will educate you on the common mistakes made when funding a B Trust and which assets are best used to fund the B Trust. The session will also explain the taxation rules and common terms of a B Trust. We will also discuss the liabilities facing the surviving spouse when managing the trust.
How to Sell Assets Without Paying Capital Gains Tax
Many people own highly appreciated assets such as stocks or real estate. When those assets no longer meet the investment needs of the owner there is often a reluctance to sell due to the fear of capital gains taxes. This can be especially true for investment real estate. This seminar will explain to you the various ways in which to liquidate these assets while avoiding all capital gains taxes. This session will also provide you with an outlook on the real estate market and answers the question, "Is the real estate market bubble about to burst?"
Avoiding Double IRA Taxation
This seminar was created for those with an IRA, 401k, 403b, 457, or other retirement plan valued at $100,000 or above. In this workshop you will learn the three most important steps you must take to protect your IRA from needless administrative costs and taxes. Additionally, we will reveal crucial tips and insight on planning an IRA with an A-B Trust and stretching the IRA through an Asset Protection Trust (APT). Your will also receive information on the importance of customizing beneficiary designations to avoid probate and court intervention in your IRA.
Investment Planning for Fiduciaries and Trustees
This seminar is for individuals and couples who are managing assets held in a personal, charitable or irrevocable trust. In this session you will learn current Federal and State regulations for trustees and how to transfer your liability as trustee to a third party money manager to keep in accordance with the Uniform Prudent Investors Act (UPIA). The session will provide you with several investment strategies and also go into further explanation of the Prudent Man Rule and the UPIA.
